Older-adult fitness · SFIC · CCAA
Strong for real life.
Fitness for older adults should support the life you want to keep living - with strength, balance, mobility and confidence that carry into every day.
A specialized approach
More than a general fitness class.
Kelly’s older-adult fitness work is informed by the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging’s Seniors’ Fitness Instructor Course (SFIC), an evidence-informed certification developed with Western University’s School of Kinesiology.
The focus is practical: help people move safely, stay capable and keep participating in the routines, hobbies and relationships that make life feel like their own.
What training can focus on
- Functional strength for stairs, carrying, standing and everyday tasks
- Balance, coordination and fall-prevention strategies
- Mobility and confidence through comfortable ranges of motion
- Bone and muscle health through appropriate resistance training
- Exercise adaptations for different abilities and comfort levels
Experience that matters
Support that meets people where they are.
Kelly’s background includes Level 1 and 2 Fitness for Older Adults training, experience facilitating VON’s Stand Up program, and one-on-one work with people living with Parkinson’s disease and people recovering from stroke.
Programs can be adapted for adults 55+ and for participants managing concerns such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease or a history of falls.
